D3D8 Text tutorial By Dxt Cobra.
Credits goes to last for his D3D kit(most of this was from his D3D kit i just treid to explain it here for ppl to use.
Ok,First off don't go running to other sites posting my tut.This has been posted on many other sites.Im just clearing it up for ppl how to create and use text in D3D.
Make sure you have a d3d kit that complies fine.If you don't you have sdk problems.So this tut will not help you.
Now that we have cleared that up.Lets add the 2 files i uploaded here.(D3DFont.h ,and .cpp)
Place them in your folder with all the other files in it.Go to "Project/Add Existing Item)
Find the 2 files that we just added to our folder.
now we have added our Font class.Lets make use of them.
Goto D3D8Dev.cpp
well start at teh top and add our includes.To include the font class

next we want to make a pointer to our font so we would do that like this
CD3DFont* m_pFont_new = NULL;//one for menu
CD3DFont* m_pFont_INFO = NULL;////one for other text (such as a header)
lets go ahead and make a char to define our strings we want to pass to text.
char Display_Line[256];///256 is the max text it will pass
and add D3D Colors
const D3DCOLOR txtRed = D3DCOLOR_ARGB(255, 255, 0, 0);
Heres what all that should look like at the top.

now we have created our font and released our font if the game was to be minimized.
So now on to the fun stuff Drawing text.
Scroll down till you find EndScene,this is were we draw all of our text.
Here is a header to put your name or site.

Heres how to do a hack on/off to text

Help please.
Btw great tut;
I did this exactly as was written, and it worked fine i went into warrock, and there it was *my D3D Hook* at the top and the Chams in red on the side and i was so happy! but then i went and joined a server and warrock CRASHED.
No warning error messages or anything. Just crashed. Help?
Also-> I tried it without rendering ANY text, and it still crashed.

Define your handle.
Somewhere on top put:
HANDLE phandle;
and in Initialize and Release put:
phandle = NULL;

That file is existing in the right directory, what's wrong?
I added an dialog, got this

That file is existing in the right directory, what's wrong?
here you probly changed it from
#include <d3d8.h> "correct"
to
#include "d3d8.h" "wrong"

this sounds like your text file is missing a #endif at the end or its just a bad text file to use.

You gotta include d3dfont.cpp and .h to workspace to do this press Project->Add To Project->Files then take d3dfont.cpp and d3dfont.h and try rebuild all it should work now.

a bool means to bool it true or false (on//off)
use it like this

i got all these errors i added graphic_adds.h in my project

it means you don't have Bos.h file with your d3d hack.
I don't think you need it.

To get this error its because you included the file bos.h into your files (probably in d3d8dev.cpp but idk why you need it ... ) and you added it to your project to ... But the bos.h is not in your folder were the rest of the project is.

at the top = mislocated some things I think, it was an error i've never had so yea o.O;
others are a { or } in the wrong place or a ; in the wrong place in ur code
and last 2 are you pasted the code in the wrong place
